Psalm 17:1

Hear a righteous cause, O Yahweh, give heed to my cry of lamentation; Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.

“I was also blameless toward Him, And I kept myself from my iniquity.

Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.

let Your ear now be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer of Your slave which I am praying before You today, day and night, on behalf of the sons of Israel Your slaves, confessing the sins of the sons of Israel which we have sinned against You; I and my father’s house have sinned.

Why?—because there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure.

Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress; Incline Your ear to me; In the day when I call answer me quickly.

¶I know that Yahweh will maintain the cause for the afflicted And judgment for the needy.

With my voice to Yahweh, I cry aloud; With my voice to Yahweh, I make supplication.

“Give heed to my cry of lamentation, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.

O Yahweh, hear my prayer, Give ear to my supplications! Answer me in Your faithfulness, in Your righteousness!

Yahweh is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

¶Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.

As soon as they hear, they obey me; Foreigners cower before me.

Give justice to me, O God, and plead my case against an unholy nation; Oh protect me from the deceitful and unrighteous man!

Give heed to the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray.

¶Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is among those who sustain my soul.

He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me, For they are many who strive with me.

Hear my cry of lamentation, O God; Give heed to my prayer.

From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.

Yahweh judges the peoples; Give justice to me, O Yahweh, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.

See our shield, O God, And look upon the face of Your anointed.

Incline Your ear, O Yahweh, and answer me; For I am afflicted and needy.

Give ear, O Yahweh, to my prayer; And give heed to the voice of my supplications!

For my soul has been saturated with calamities, And my life has reached Sheol.

Then the Lord said, “Because this people draw near with their mouth And honor Me with their lips, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their fear of Me is in the command of men learned by rote,

Yet in spite of all this, her treacherous sister Judah did not return to Me with all her heart, but rather in lying,” declares Yahweh.

‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said about him, “Behold, truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
