The wicked fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They act corruptly, they commit abominable deeds; There is no one who does good.

Then Yahweh saw that the evil of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

How much less one who is abominable and corrupt, Man, who drinks unrighteousness like water!

“You say, ‘What does God know? Can He judge through the dense gloom?

The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, “There is no God.”

¶Ignorant fools, because of their way of transgression, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

The wicked fool says in his heart, “There is no God,” They act corruptly, and commit abominable injustice; There is no one who does good.

For I was envious of the boastful, I saw the peace of the wicked.

A senseless man does not know, And a fool does not understand this:

“How long, O simple ones, will you love simplicity? And scoffers delight in scoffing And fools hate knowledge?

¶The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; Ignorant fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Desire realized is pleasant to the soul, But it is an abomination to fools to turn away from evil.

Though you pound an ignorant fool in a mortar with a pestle in the midst of crushed grain, His folly will not turn aside from him.

Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins.

¶Alas, sinful nation, People heavy with iniquity, Seed of evildoers, Sons who act corruptly! They have forsaken Yahweh; They have spurned the Holy One of Israel; They have become estranged from Him.

They have dealt falsely about Yahweh And said, “Not He; Calamity will not come on us, And we will not see sword or famine.

All of them are rebelliously stubborn, Going about as a slanderer. They are bronze and iron; They, all of them, are corrupt.

You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false witness, slanders.

But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you prepared?’

remember that you were at that time without Christ, alienated from the citizenship of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

They profess to know God, but by their works they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and unfit for any good work.

For we ourselves also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, despicable, hating one another.

But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Please do not let my lord pay attention to this vile man, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and wicked foolishness is with him; but I your maidservant did not see the young men of my lord whom you sent.
