“For wisdom is better than pearls; And all desirable things cannot compare with her.
How sweet is Your word to my taste! Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Therefore I love Your commandments Above gold, even above fine gold.
The law of Your mouth is better to me Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
They are more desirable than gold, even more than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
How much better it is to acquire wisdom than fine gold! And to acquire understanding is to be chosen above silver.
There is gold, and an abundance of pearls; But the lips of knowledge are a more precious vessel.
¶An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above pearls.
Wisdom along with an inheritance is good And an advantage to those who see the sun.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us and get it for us and make us hear it, that we may do it?’
