“Take my discipline and not silver, And knowledge rather than choicest fine gold.
“Pure gold cannot be given in place of it, Nor can silver be weighed as its price.
“Gold or glass cannot meet its worth, Nor can it be exchanged for articles of fine gold.
Therefore I love Your commandments Above gold, even above fine gold.
I rejoice at Your word, As one who finds much spoil.
The law of Your mouth is better to me Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
The tongue of the righteous is as choice silver, The heart of the wicked is worth little.
How much better it is to acquire wisdom than fine gold! And to acquire understanding is to be chosen above silver.
There is gold, and an abundance of pearls; But the lips of knowledge are a more precious vessel.
Buy truth, and do not sell it, Get wisdom and discipline and understanding.
“My fruit is better than fine gold, even pure gold, And my produce better than choice silver.
Wisdom along with an inheritance is good And an advantage to those who see the sun.
But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!”
as sorrowful but always rejoicing, as poor but making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.
