For every firstborn among the sons of Israel is Mine, among the men and among the animals; on the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself.

¶He struck the firstborn of Egypt, From man to beast.

So He struck all the firstborn in Egypt, The first of their vigor in the tents of Ham.

Now it happened at midnight that Yahweh struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle.

“Sanctify to Me every firstborn, the first offspring of every womb among the sons of Israel, both of man and beast; it belongs to Me.”

I will set the tent of meeting and the altar apart as holy; I will also set Aaron and his sons apart as holy to minister as priests to Me.

And I also gave them My sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.

‘However, a firstborn among animals, which as a firstborn belongs to Yahweh, no man may set it apart as holy; whether ox or sheep, it is Yahweh’s.

For all the firstborn are Mine; on the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to Myself all the firstborn in Israel, from man to beast. They shall be Mine; I am Yahweh.”

But I have taken the Levites instead of every firstborn among the sons of Israel.

(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),

do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?

For their sake I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.

How much worse punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as defiled the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that he who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them.

In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.
