These are the families of Judah according to those who were numbered of them, 76,500.

¶“Judah, as for you, your brothers shall praise you; Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father’s sons shall bow down to you.

Though Judah prevailed over his brothers, and from him came the ruler, yet the birthright belonged to Joseph),

May Yahweh give you increase, You and your children.

And the sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites.

For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.
