Then Balaam said to Balak, “Stand beside your burnt offering, and I will go; perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me, and whatever He shows me I will tell you.” So he went to a bare hill.

Then Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, there was a ram after it had been caught in the thicket by its horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering in the place of his son.

Then He said, “Take now your son, your only one, whom you love, Isaac, and go forth to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”

Then Noah built an altar to Yahweh and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses’ father-in-law before God.

Then Yahweh called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying,

And he replied, “Must I not be careful to speak what Yahweh puts in my mouth?”

And he said to Balak, “Stand here beside your burnt offering while I myself meet Yahweh over there.”

So Balak did just as Balaam had spoken, and Balak and Balaam offered up a bull and a ram on each altar.

But Balaam replied to Balak, “Did I not tell you, saying, ‘Whatever Yahweh speaks, that I must do’?”

Now God met Balaam, and he said to Him, “I have set up the seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on each altar.”

And Balaam saw that it was good in the eyes of Yahweh to bless Israel, so he did not go as at other times to encounter omens, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

Again, the devil *took Him to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;

But I was not willing to listen to Balaam. So he blessed you repeatedly, and I delivered you from his hand.
