So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of their weakness of spirit and hard slavery.

Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites live in the valleys; turn tomorrow and set out to the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.”

So Moses did just as Yahweh had commanded, and they went up to Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.

Now why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which Yahweh has given them?

Indeed they went up to the valley of Eshcol and saw the land, and they discouraged the sons of Israel so that they did not go into the land which Yahweh had given them.

¶Then they journeyed from Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.

strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, “Through many afflictions we must enter the kingdom of God.”

But as for you, turn around and set out for the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.’

Then they went through the wilderness and around the land of Edom and the land of Moab and came to the east toward the sunrise of the land of Moab, and they camped beyond the Arnon; but they did not enter the territory of Moab, for the Arnon was the border of Moab.
