and they put him in custody because it had not been declared what should be done to him.
And Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, so he said, “What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit as judge and all the people stand about you from morning until evening?”
And Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God.
And they put him in custody so that the command of Yahweh might be made clear to them.
And those who found him gathering wood brought him near to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation;
Moses therefore said to them, “Wait, and I will listen to what Yahweh will command concerning you.”
