So Jacob named the place Peniel, for he said, “I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been delivered.”

As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.

I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will express my riddle on the harp.

And the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder; then Moses spoke and God answered him with thunder.

¶“You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

Thus Yahweh used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, and his attendant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.

And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of Yahweh before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.”

Then I will remove My hand, and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”

Then Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.

¶To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare with Him?

¶“To whom would you liken Me And make Me equal and compare Me, That we would be alike?

“Son of man, propound a riddle and speak a parable to the house of Israel,

Then I said, “Ah Lord Yahweh! They are saying of me, ‘Is he not just speaking parables?’ ”

But by a prophet Yahweh brought Israel up from Egypt, And by a prophet he was kept.

and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, O Yahweh, are in the midst of this people, for You, O Yahweh, are seen eye to eye, while Your cloud stands over them; and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.

Now when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim, so He spoke to him.

so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world.”

“The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me. And he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well.

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

“Yahweh your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers; you shall listen to him.

And there has not yet arisen a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom Yahweh knew face to face,

“So keep your souls very carefully, since you did not see any form on the day Yahweh spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire,

¶‘You shall not make for yourself an idol—any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

¶Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

Consequently, he who sets this aside is not setting aside man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.

who alone has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal might! Amen.

God, having spoken long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,

who is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power; who, having accomplished cleansing for sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

and especially those who go after the flesh in its corrupt lust and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they blaspheme glorious ones,

Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and blaspheme glorious ones.
