¶Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

“I will declare your righteousness and your deeds, But they will not profit you.

Therefore, thus says Lord Yahweh, “Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of the city are the flesh, and this city is the pot; but I will bring you out of it.

Her princes within her are like wolves tearing the prey by shedding blood and destroying lives in order to get greedy gain.

Put in it the pieces, Every good piece, the thigh and the shoulder; Fill it with choice bones.

You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you sacrifice the fat sheep without shepherding the flock.

Hear this word, you cows of Bashan who are on the mountain of Samaria, Who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, Who say to their husbands, “Bring now, that we may drink!”

Hate evil, love good, And set justice at the gate! Perhaps Yahweh God of hosts May be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I bear witness about it, that its deeds are evil.

and although they know the righteous requirement of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

Let love be without hypocrisy—by abhorring what is evil, clinging to what is good,

unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, without gentleness, without love for good,
