“And when you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

Give heed to the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray.

Evening and morning and at noon, I will bring my complaint and moan, And He will hear my voice.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.

“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.

And they love the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues,

“Beware of doing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

“Now whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

“Therefore, when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”

And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.

And in His teaching He was saying: “Beware of the scribes who want to walk around in long robes, and want respectful greetings in the marketplaces,

Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seat in the synagogues and the respectful greetings in the marketplaces.

Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart,

But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’

who devour widows’ houses, and for appearance’s sake offer long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”

But woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full.

Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made complete.

praying at all times with all prayer and petition in the Spirit, and to this end, being on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
