The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as the Gentile and the tax collector.

And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

“Beware of doing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

And it *happened that as He was reclining at the table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and His disciples. For there were many of them, and they were following Him.

And when the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they were saying to His disciples, “He is eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners!”

Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him.

But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’

And behold, there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich.

And when they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”

And tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what should we do?”

And Levi gave a big reception for Him in his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them.

And the Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling at His disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”

And when all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they acknowledged God’s justice, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
