And some began to spit at Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers received Him with slaps in the face.

And they kept beating His head with a reed, and spitting on Him; and kneeling, they were bowing down before Him.

And when He had said this, one of the officers standing nearby gave Jesus a slap, saying, “Is that the way You answer the high priest?”

and they were coming to Him and saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and were giving Him slaps in the face.

when we are slandered, we try to plead; we have become as the scum of the world, the grime of all things, even until now.

then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the sight of the elders and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, ‘Thus it is done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.’

fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
