And they were taking offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.”

Thus says Yahweh, the Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One, To the despised One, To the One abhorred by the nation, To the Servant of rulers, “Kings will see and arise, Princes will also bow down, Because of Yahweh who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You.”

He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

“Then He shall become a sanctuary; But to both the houses of Israel, a stone to strike and a rock to stumble over, And a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Is this man not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?” And they were taking offense at Him.

And Jesus was saying to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household.”

And He said, “Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown.

Blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.”

For Jesus Himself bore witness that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

They were saying, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”

But Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were grumbling at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble?
