For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of Yahweh and to practice it, and to teach His statute and judgment in Israel.

This Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a scribe skilled in the law of Moses, which Yahweh, the God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all he requested because the hand of Yahweh his God was upon him.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise wins souls.

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, But the hearts of fools are not so.

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; The fountain of wisdom is a flowing brook.

“The mandrakes have given forth fragrance; And over our doors are all choice fruits, Both new and old, Which I have treasured up for you, my beloved.

The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil.

“Have you understood all these things?” They *said to Him, “Yes.”

Now it happened that when Jesus had finished these parables, He departed from there.

“On account of this, behold, I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city,

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

For this reason also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and some they will persecute,

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

as sorrowful but always rejoicing, as poor but making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.

About which, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,

To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the good news of the unfathomable riches of Christ,

just as you learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow slave, who is a faithful servant of Christ on our behalf,

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with gratefulness in your hearts to God.

and not a new convert, so that he will not become conceited and fall into the condemnation of the devil.

holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to reprove those who contradict.
