“Will they not instruct you and tell you, And bring forth words from their hearts?

The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, But the mouth of the upright will deliver them.

A man has gladness in an apt answer, And how good is a timely word!

The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil things.

A tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, But perversion in it breaks the spirit.

You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.

And He said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”

Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil. For his mouth speaks from the abundance of his heart.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for building up what is needed, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with gratefulness in your hearts to God.

Let your words always be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should answer each person.
