And they were seeking to seize Him, and yet they feared the crowd, for they understood that He spoke the parable against them. And so they left Him and went away.

But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the crowd; for they all regard John as a prophet.”

And hearing this, they marveled, and leaving Him, they went away.

And the chief priests and the scribes heard this, and began seeking how to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching.

But if we say, ‘From men’?”—they were afraid of the crowd, for everyone was regarding John to have been a real prophet.

And the scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on Him that very hour, but they feared the people. For they understood that He spoke this parable against them.

But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us to death, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, “Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill?

So they were seeking to seize Him; yet no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.

Some of them were wanting to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
