And seeing at a distance a fig tree that had leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.

And on the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry.

And He answered and said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening.

And a priest happened to be going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

So she went. And she came and gleaned in the field after the reapers. And it so happened that she happened to come to the portion of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.

See, if it goes up by the way of its own territory to Beth-shemesh, then He has done us this great evil. But if not, then we will know that it was not His hand that smote us; it happened to us by chance.”
