Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan; and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.

Then the king trembled and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And thus he said as he walked, “O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!”

And the appearance of the glory of Yahweh was like a consuming fire on the mountain top, in the eyes of the sons of Israel.

“And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.

and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’

And following Him was a large multitude of the people, and of women who were mourning and lamenting Him.

And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, when they observed what had happened, were returning, beating their chests.

So when He came to the house, He did not allow anyone to enter with Him, except Peter and John and James, and the girl’s father and mother.

And they began laughing at Him, knowing that she had died.

But when Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not to end in death, but is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.”
