It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!

Now in those days John the Baptist *came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,

Now John himself had a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

And John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and was eating locusts and wild honey.

For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will not drink any wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb.

They are like children, sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, who say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry.’

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

And many of them were saying, “He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?”

The Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”

The Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste of death—ever.’

But others, mocking, were saying, “They are full of new wine.”
