Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’

and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this man,’ and then in shame you proceed to occupy the last place.

But Jesus answered and said, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones will cry out!”

And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.

The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”

They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s seed and have never yet been enslaved to anyone. How is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?”

They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus *said to them, “If you are Abraham’s children, you would do the deeds of Abraham.

but kept declaring both to those of Damascus first, and also at Jerusalem and then throughout all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, practicing deeds appropriate to repentance.

For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be according to grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the seed, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all—

nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s seed, but: “through Isaac your seed will be named.”

having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
