I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other, for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

“When some are cast down, you will speak with confidence, And the humble person He will save.

“How then can mortal man be right with God? Or how can he be pure who is born of woman?

“Though I am righteous, my mouth will condemn me; Though I am blameless, He will declare me perverse.

For Yahweh is high, Yet He sees the lowly, But the one who exalts himself He knows from afar.

And do not enter into judgment with Your slave, For no one living is righteous in Your sight.

Now I know that Yahweh is greater than all the gods; for in this matter they acted presumptuously against the people.”

The fear of Yahweh is the discipline leading to wisdom, And before glory comes humility.

Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, But humility goes before glory.

For it is better that it be said to you, “Come up here,” Than for you to be placed lower in the presence of a noble, Whom your eyes have seen.

A man’s lofty pride will bring him low, But a lowly spirit will take hold of glory.

Though He scoffs at the scoffers, Yet He gives grace to the humble.

Go then, eat your bread in gladness and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has already accepted your works.

“In Yahweh all the seed of Israel Will be justified and will boast.”

As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities.

For thus says the One high and lifted up Who dwells forever, whose name is Holy, “I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the crushed and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the crushed.

“For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares Yahweh. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.”

¶“Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.

And whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.

¶“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“He has brought down rulers from their thrones, And has exalted those who were humble.

But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts, for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.

because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.

But to the one who does not work, but believes upon Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;

nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

And she said, “Let your servant-woman find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.
