But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things. But now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.

“Yet He filled their houses with good things, But the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

From men with Your hand, O Yahweh, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your treasure; They are satisfied with children, And leave their excess to their infants.

Their inner thought is that their houses are forever And their dwelling places from generation to generation; They have called their lands after their own names.

Their eye bulges from fatness; The delusions of their heart overflow.

In the days of her affliction and homelessness Jerusalem remembers all her precious things That were from the days of old, When her people fell into the hand of the adversary And no one helped her. The adversaries saw her; They laughed at her ruin.

And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you are not able, and none may cross over from there to us.’

But woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full.

These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, “Through many afflictions we must enter the kingdom of God.”

because the mind set on the flesh is at enmity toward God, for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,

whose end is destruction, whose god is their stomach and glory is in their shame, who set their thoughts on earthly things.

so that no one would be shaken by these afflictions, for you yourselves know that we have been destined for this.

choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,

Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

And I said to him, “My lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
