“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.

But he said to him, “I will not come, but rather will go to my own land and kin.”

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

And another one said, ‘I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’

Now many crowds were going along with Him, and He turned and said to them,

He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.

But I do not make my life of any account nor dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.

Just as it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

Who said of his father and his mother, ‘I did not consider them’; And he did not recognize his brothers, Nor did he know his own sons, For they kept Your word, And they observed Your covenant.

More than that, I count all things to be loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ

And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their witness, and they did not love their life even to death.
