And He was telling this parable: “A man had a fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit on it and did not find any.

“Yet I planted you a choice vine, A completely true seed. How then have you turned yourself before Me Into the degenerate shoots of a foreign vine?

¶“I will surely gather them up,” declares Yahweh; “There will be no grapes on the vine And no figs on the fig tree, And the leaf will wither; And what I have given them will pass away.” ’ ”

I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

But the fig tree said to them, ‘Shall I leave my sweetness and my good produce and go to wave over the trees?’
