From men with Your hand, O Yahweh, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your treasure; They are satisfied with children, And leave their excess to their infants.

Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’

And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.” ’

So is the one who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!

And for a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man,

And the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge *said.

This wisdom is not coming down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.”

Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”
