And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of Yahweh, but Baal’s prophets are 450 men.

¶The Lord gives the word; The women who proclaim the good news are a great host:

“Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will shepherd you on knowledge and understanding.

“Woe to the worthless shepherd Who forsakes the flock! A sword will be on his arm And on his right eye! His arm will be totally dried up, And his right eye will be utterly dimmed.”

Those who buy them slaughter them and are not held guilty, and each of those who sell them says, ‘Blessed be Yahweh. Indeed, I have become rich!’ And their own shepherds do not spare them.

Then I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take of the Spirit who is upon you, and will put Him upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you will not bear it all alone.

But Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the people of Yahweh were prophets, that Yahweh would put His Spirit upon them!”

“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

It is like a man away on a journey, who, leaving his house and giving authority to his slaves—each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay awake.

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.] [And they promptly reported all these instructions to Peter and his companions. And after that, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable preaching of eternal salvation.]

And calling the twelve together, He gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.

So then those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.

And while they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

And He said to me, ‘Go! For I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’  ”

Therefore, those who had been scattered went about, proclaiming the good news of the word.

And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

And working together with Him, we also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain—

For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.

But I regarded it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger and minister to my need;

because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life to fulfill what was lacking in your service to me.

For this purpose I also labor, striving according to His working, which He works in me in power.

Epaphras, who is one of your number, a slave of Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings, always striving for you in his prayers, that you may stand complete and fully assured in all the will of God.

For you remember, brothers, our labor and hardship, how working night and day so as not to be a burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

But we ask of you, brothers, that you know those who labor among you, and lead you in the Lord and admonish you,

Finally, brothers, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;

For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.

But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our beloved brother and fellow worker,

but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house—whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope.
