Joshua 2:1

Then Joshua the son of Nun sent two men as spies secretly from Shittim, saying, “Go, see the land, especially Jericho.” So they went and came into the house of a harlot whose name was Rahab and lodged there.

And Joseph remembered the dreams which he had about them and said to them, “You are spies; you have come to look at the nakedness of the land.”

“My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled And what Balaam son of Beor answered him, And from Shittim to Gilgal, So that you might know the righteous acts of Yahweh.”

Then Yahweh spoke to Moses saying,

“Send out for yourself men so that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I am going to give to the sons of Israel; you shall send a man from each of their fathers’ tribes, every one a leader among them.”

And Israel remained at Shittim, and the people began to play the harlot with the daughters of Moab.

They camped by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth as far as Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.

And Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed was the father of Jesse.

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.

For this you know with certainty, that no one sexually immoral or impure or greedy, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after welcoming the spies in peace.

And in the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?

Anyone who rebels against your command and does not listen to your words, in all that you command him, shall be put to death; only be strong and courageous.”

And it was told to the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men from the sons of Israel have come here tonight to search out the land.”

Helkath with its pasture lands and Rehob with its pasture lands; four cities.

Then Joshua rose early in the morning; and he and all the sons of Israel set out from Shittim and came to the Jordan, and they lodged there before they crossed.

Then the sons of Israel camped at Gilgal and celebrated the Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the month on the desert plains of Jericho.

And the house of Joseph spied out Bethel (now the name of the city was formerly Luz).

And the five men who went to spy out the country of Laish answered and said to their relatives, “Do you know that there are in these houses an ephod and household idols and a graven image and a molten image? So now, know what you should do.”

Then the five men who went to spy out the land went up and entered there, and took the graven image and the ephod and household idols and the molten image. And the priest was standing by the entrance of the gate with the 600 men armed with weapons of war.

So the sons of Dan sent from their family five men out of their whole number, men of valor from Zorah and Eshtaol, to spy out the land and to search it; and they said to them, “Go, search the land.” And they came to the hill country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and lodged there.
