All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He was not speaking to them without a parable

“Have you understood all these things?” They *said to Him, “Yes.”

and He was not speaking to them without a parable; but He was explaining everything privately to His own disciples.

“These things I have spoken to you in figures of speech; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you openly of the Father.

His disciples *said, “Behold, now You are speaking openly and are not using a figure of speech.

Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?”

Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this said, “This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?”

What is this statement that He said, ‘You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come’?”

They did not know that He had been speaking to them about the Father.

Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word.

But a natural man does not accept the depths of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually examined.

The message of the true proverb has happened to them, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
