Jeremiah 24:1

Legacy Standard Bible

After Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken away into exile Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the officials of Judah with the craftsmen and smiths from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon, Yahweh showed me: behold, two baskets of figs set before the temple of Yahweh!

At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon went up to Jerusalem, and the city came under siege.

And at the turn of the year King Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon with the valuable articles of the house of Yahweh, and he made his relative Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.

The oracle concerning Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz beheld.

Now these are the words of the letter which Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the rest of the elders of the exile, the priests, the prophets, and all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken away into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

(This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the court officials, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths had gone out from Jerusalem.)

Now Zedekiah the son of Josiah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had made king in the land of Judah, reigned as king in place of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim.

He plucked off the topmost of its young twigs and brought it to a land of merchants; he set it in a city of traders.

‘They put him in a cage with hooks And brought him to the king of Babylon; They brought him in hunting nets So that his voice would be heard no more On the mountains of Israel.

Surely Lord Yahweh does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His slaves the prophets.

Thus Lord Yahweh showed me, and behold, He was forming a locust-swarm when the spring crop began to come up. And behold, the spring crop was after the king’s mowing.

Thus Lord Yahweh showed me, and behold, Lord Yahweh was calling to contend with them by fire, and it consumed the great deep and began to consume the farm land.

Thus He showed me, and behold, the Lord was standing by a wall made with a plumb line, and in His hand was a plumb line.

Then Yahweh showed me four craftsmen.

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Yahweh, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.
