Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Then Abraham came near and said, “Will You indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a delighted soul; for Yahweh searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.

and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: Yahweh is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will be found; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

Why?—because there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure.

“Nevertheless the righteous will hold to his way, And he who has clean hands will grow mightier and mightier.

“If I should wash myself with snow And cleanse my hands with lye,

¶I hate those who are double-minded, But I love Your law.

Yahweh is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

¶Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.

He who has innocent hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to worthlessness And has not sworn deceitfully.

I shall wash my hands in innocence, So I will go around Your altar, O Yahweh,

¶Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure And washed my hands in innocence;

But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have set Lord Yahweh as my refuge, That I may recount all Your works.

Anyone who is found will be pierced through, And anyone who is captured will fall by the sword.

Then the Lord said, “Because this people draw near with their mouth And honor Me with their lips, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their fear of Me is in the command of men learned by rote,

“Yet they seek Me day by day and find pleasure in knowing My ways, As a nation that has done righteousness And has not forsaken the judgment of their God. They ask Me for righteous judgments; They find pleasure in the nearness of God.

In that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A scorching wind from the bare heights in the wilderness along the way of the daughter of My people—not to winnow and not to cleanse,

¶Wash your heart from evil, O Jerusalem, That you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts Lodge within you?

You drew near when I called on You; You said, “Do not fear!”

Cast away from yourselves all your transgressions which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Now why will you die, O house of Israel?

Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts, “Return to Me,” declares Yahweh of hosts, “that I may return to you,” says Yahweh of hosts.

“From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says Yahweh of hosts. “But you say, ‘How shall we return?’

“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit.

“Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”

Now when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to that yourselves.”

and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.

let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

(for the Law made nothing perfect), and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal of a good conscience to God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

And Saul built an altar to Yahweh; it was the first altar that he built to Yahweh.
