But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.

His speech was smoother than butter, But his heart was war; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.

If the serpent bites before being charmed, there is no advantage for the charmer.

“Their throat is an open tomb, With their tongues they keep deceiving,” “The poison of asps is under their lips”;

“Their wine is the venom of serpents, And the deadly poison of cobras.

And the tongue is a fire, the very world of unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our existence, and is set on fire by hell.

For every kind of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.

And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
