For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for building up what is needed, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

nor filthiness and foolish talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

Beware lest your hearts be deceived, and you turn away and serve other gods and worship them,

Let your words always be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should answer each person.

Know this, my beloved brothers. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;

But become doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?

For, “The one who desires life, to love and see good days, Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
