And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

“Therefore, I would be dismayed at His presence; I carefully consider, and I am in dread of Him.

“If I have covered my transgressions like Adam, By hiding my iniquity in my bosom,

My flesh quakes for dread of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments.

And all the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and the people perceived it, and they shook and stood at a distance.

Then they said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself, and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, lest we die.”

He said also, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

Now Moses saw that the people were out of control—for Aaron had let them get out of control to be a derision among their enemies—

Sinners in Zion are in dread; Trembling has seized the godless. “Who among us can sojourn with the consuming fire? Who among us can sojourn with continual burning?”

“Your nakedness will be uncovered; Your reproach also will be seen; I will take vengeance and will not spare a man.”

¶“Of whom were you anxious and fearful When you lied and did not remember Me, Nor even put Me upon your heart? Was I not silent even for a long time So you do not fear Me?

So now then why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of Yahweh our God any longer, then we will die.

in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

(“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his garments, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”)
