so now, swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my offspring or with my posterity, but according to the lovingkindness that I have shown you, you shall show me and the land in which you have sojourned.”

Abimelech then took sheep and oxen and male and female slaves and gave them to Abraham and returned his wife Sarah to him.

And Abraham said, “I swear it.”

and I will make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live,

But I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you I did not come again to Corinth.

Yahweh your God you shall fear; and Him you shall serve; and by His name you shall swear.

For men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute.

So now, please swear to me by Yahweh, since I have shown lovingkindness to you, that you also will show lovingkindness to my father’s household and give me a pledge of truth,

If it please my father to do you harm, may Yahweh do so to Jonathan and more also, if I do not reveal it in your ear and send you away, that you may go in peace. And may Yahweh be with you as He has been with my father.

And Jonathan made David swear again because of his love for him, because he loved him as he loved his own soul.

And Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, inasmuch as we have sworn to each other in the name of Yahweh, saying, ‘Yahweh will be between me and you, and between my seed and your seed forever.’ ” Then he rose and departed, while Jonathan went into the city.

Then David said to him, “Will you bring me down to this band?” And he said, “Swear to me by God that you will not put me to death or surrender me into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down to this band.”
