And he said to him, “Behold, I grant you this request also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.

And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing;

Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; will You indeed sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous who are in it?

now behold, this town is near enough to flee to, and it is small. Please, let me escape there (is it not small?) that my life may be preserved.”

Hurry, escape there, for I cannot do anything until you arrive there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

He has turned toward the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer.

He will work out the desire of those who fear Him; He will hear their cry for help and He will save them.

¶The eyes of Yahweh are toward the righteous And His ears are open to their cry for help.

Then Yahweh said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; for you have found favor in My sight, and I have known you by name.”

Thus says Yahweh to this people, “Even so they have loved to wander; they have not kept their feet in check. Therefore Yahweh does not accept them; now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins.”

“A battered reed He will not break off, And a smoldering wick He will not put out, Until He leads justice to victory.

I tell you, even though he will not arise and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

Therefore, He had to be made like His brothers in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

So David received from her hand what she had brought him and said to her, “Go up to your house in peace. See, I have listened to your voice and granted your request.”
