And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands before God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.

‘Give us each day our daily bread.

But keep on the alert at all times, praying earnestly that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

So Saul sent to Jesse, saying, “Let David now stand before me, for he has found favor in my sight.”
