And as I punished them often in all the synagogues, I tried to force them to blaspheme; and being furiously enraged at them, I kept pursuing them even to foreign cities.

¶My enemies have reproached me all day long; Those who ridicule me swear against me.

This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one fate for all. Furthermore, the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts throughout their lives. Afterwards they go to the dead.

But beware of men, for they will deliver you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues;

“But see to yourselves; for they will deliver you to the courts, and you will be beaten in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a witness to them.

“Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;

But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger!

“But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake.

But they themselves were filled with rage, and were discussing together what they might do to Jesus.

But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, blaspheming.

But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves understand that in one synagogue after another I used to imprison and beat those who believed in You.

as also the high priest and all the Council of the elders can testify. From them I also received letters to the brothers, and started off for Damascus in order to bring even those who were there to Jerusalem as prisoners to be punished.

Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

Do they not blaspheme the good name by which you have been called?

but he received a rebuke for his own lawlessness, for a mute donkey, speaking out with a voice of a man, restrained the madness of the prophet.
