Now Agrippa said to Paul, “You are permitted to speak for yourself.” Then Paul, stretching out his hand, began to make his defense:

I will also speak of Your testimonies before kings And I shall not be ashamed.

“Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention;

He who responds with a word before he hears, It is folly and shame to him.

The first to plead his case seems right, Until another comes and examines him.

Behold now, I have stretched out My hand against you and cut off your rations. And I gave you up to the desire of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your lewd way.

“Does our Law judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing?”

“Men, brothers, and fathers, hear my defense which I now offer to you.”

I answered them that it is not the custom of the Romans to hand over any man before the accused meets his accusers face to face and has an opportunity to make his defense against the charges.

For it seems absurd to me in sending a prisoner, not to indicate also the charges against him.”

“Concerning all the things of which I am accused by the Jews, I regard myself blessed, King Agrippa, that I am about to make my defense before you today;

But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;

But as for Israel He says, “All day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
