As he said this, there was dissension between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
¶Confuse, O Lord, divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city.
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
But the multitude of the city was divided; and some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.
But knowing that one group were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, Paul began crying out in the Sanhedrin, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees; I am on trial for the hope and resurrection of the dead!”
For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor an angel, nor a spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
