Now there was a famine in the land; so Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land.

And in each and every province and in each and every city, wherever the king’s word and his law reached, there was gladness and joy for the Jews, a feast and a holiday. And many among the peoples of the land became Jews, for the dread of the Jews had fallen on them.

Go up, you horses, and drive madly, you chariots, That the mighty men may go forth: Ethiopia and Put, who seize the shield, And the Lydians, who seize and bend the bow.

Egypt and Judah, and Edom and the sons of Ammon, and Moab and all those inhabiting the desert who clip the hair on their temples; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised of heart.”

Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all Arabia, Libya, and the people of the land that is in covenant will fall with them by the sword.”

But he will rule over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the desirable things of Egypt; and Libyans and Ethiopians will follow at his heels.

When Israel was a youth I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son.

“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘It will yet be that peoples will come, even the inhabitants of many cities.

Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from every tongue of the nations will take hold of the garment of a Jew, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” ’ ”

And he remained there until the death of Herod, in order that what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

And as they were coming out, they found a man of Cyrene named Simon, whom they pressed into service to bear His cross.

And they *pressed into service a passer-by coming from the countryside, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and Rufus), to carry His cross.

But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, proclaiming the good news of the Lord Jesus.

Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was there, prophets and teachers: Barnabas, and Simeon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Now after Paul and his companions set sail from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia, but John left them and returned to Jerusalem.

Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.

And when they passed through Pisidia, they came into Pamphylia.

But Paul kept insisting that they should not take him along who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.

And they passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;

(Now all the Athenians and the strangers visiting there used to spend their time in nothing other than telling or hearing something newer.)

And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, and his wife Priscilla, who recently came from Italy because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,

And having spent some time there, he left and passed successively through the Galatian region and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

Cretans and Arabs—we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God.”

But on that very night, the Lord stood at his side and said, “Take courage; for as you have solemnly borne witness to My cause at Jerusalem, so you must bear witness at Rome also.”

And when we had sailed through the sea along the coast of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we landed at Myra in Lycia.

And the brothers, when they heard about us, came from there as far as the Market of Appius and Three Inns to meet us. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

And this word pleased the whole congregation, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch.

But some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and were arguing with Stephen.

In this way, for my part, I am eager to proclaim the gospel to you also who are in Rome.

to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me—

And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.
