And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?”

And both the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”

Then they *led Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was early; and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium so that they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.

So he invited them in and gave them lodging. And on the next day he rose up and went away with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went with him.

And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a man who is a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; and yet God has shown me that I should not call any man defiled or unclean.

Therefore send to Joppa and invite Simon, who is also called Peter, to come to you; he is lodging at the house of Simon the tanner by the sea.’

And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for a few days.

But now I am writing to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is a sexually immoral person, or greedy, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.

For prior to the coming of certain men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles, but when they came, he began to shrink back and separate himself, fearing the party of the circumcision.

If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting,
