So the king said to Ziba, “Behold, all that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.” And Ziba said, “I prostrate myself; let me find favor in your sight, O my lord, the king!”

And Joab fell on his face to the ground, prostrated himself and blessed the king; then Joab said, “Today your servant knows that I have found favor in your sight, O my lord, the king, in that the king has performed the word of his servant.”

So the woman of Tekoa spoke to the king, and she fell on her face to the ground and prostrated herself and said, “Save, O king.”

Then the king said to the woman, “Go to your house, and I will give a command concerning you.”

So Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, came to David and fell on his face and prostrated himself. And David said, “Mephibosheth.” And he said, “Here is your servant!”

Then the king called Saul’s young man Ziba and said to him, “All that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master’s grandson.

“And you shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of the just.

He who responds with a word before he hears, It is folly and shame to him.

The first to plead his case seems right, Until another comes and examines him.

Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, And he who hurries his footsteps sins.

“A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; at the mouth of two or three witnesses a matter shall be established.
