So David arose from the ground, washed, anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he came into the house of Yahweh and worshiped. Then he came to his own house, and he asked, and they set food before him, and he ate.

And David saw that his servants were whispering together, so David discerned that the child had died; so David said to his servants, “Has the child died?” And they said, “He has died.”

Then his servants said to him, “What is this thing that you have done? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept; but when the child died, you arose and ate food.”

So Joab sent to Tekoa and brought a wise woman from there and said to her, “Please pretend to be a mourner, and put on mourning garments now, and do not anoint yourself with oil, but be like a woman who has been mourning for the dead many days;

Now Mephibosheth the son of Saul had come down to meet the king; and he had not done anything for his feet, nor done anything for his mustache, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.

And they brought in the ark of Yahweh and placed it in its place inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Yahweh.

Then David the king went in and sat before Yahweh, and he said, “Who am I, O Lord Yahweh, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped.

But he said to her, “You speak as one of the wickedly foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept calamity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

Bless Yahweh, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name.

Yahweh is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.

“I have become mute, I do not open my mouth, Because it is You who have done it.

¶Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before Yahweh our Maker.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear Yahweh and turn away from evil.

Let your clothes be white all the time, and let not oil be lacking on your head.

But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face

You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume.

So you shall wash yourself and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes, and you shall go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.

So now, please forgive my sin and return with me, that I may worship Yahweh.”

So Samuel returned, following after Saul, and Saul worshiped Yahweh.
