Though I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, so that your joy may be made complete.

“I still have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made complete.

But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves.

He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.

whenever I go to Spain—for I hope, passing through, to see you, and to be helped on my way there by you, when I have first enjoyed your company for a while.

longing to see you, having remembered your tears, so that I may be filled with joy,

And at the same time also prepare me a lodging, for I hope that through your prayers I will be graciously given to you.

And I urge you all the more to do this, so that I may be restored to you the sooner.

Know that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom, if he comes soon, I will see you.

And these things we are writing, so that our joy may be made complete.

For this reason, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his deeds which he does, unjustly disparaging us with wicked words. And not satisfied with this, he himself does not welcome the brothers either, and he forbids those who want to do so and puts them out of the church.
