“If any man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father or his mother, and when they discipline him, he will not even listen to them,

in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

Now the sons of Eli were vile men; they did not know Yahweh.

Thus the sin of the young men was very great before Yahweh, for the men spurned the offering of Yahweh.
