Then Hannah rose after eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the temple of Yahweh.

that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I inhabit a house of cedar, but the ark of God inhabits tent curtains.”

¶One thing I have asked from Yahweh, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of Yahweh And to inquire in His temple.

The voice of Yahweh makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

But as for me, in the abundance of Your lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will worship in fear of You.

then his master shall bring him to God, and he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. Then his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him permanently.

And she, bitter of soul, prayed to Yahweh and wept despondently.

So Samuel lay down until morning. Then he opened the doors of the house of Yahweh. But Samuel was afraid to tell the vision to Eli.

and the lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of Yahweh where the ark of God was,

And he came, and behold, Eli was sitting on his seat by the road eagerly watching because his heart was trembling for the ark of God. Now the man came to tell it in the city, and all the city cried out.
