For we ourselves also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, despicable, hating one another.

This wisdom is not coming down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.

But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

I saw among the spoil a beautiful mantle from Shinar and two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold fifty shekels in weight; then I coveted them and took them; and behold, they are concealed in the earth inside my tent with the silver underneath it.”

As obedient children, not being conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul,

and especially those who go after the flesh in its corrupt lust and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they blaspheme glorious ones,

For speaking out arrogant words of vanity, they entice by sensual lusts of the flesh, those who barely escape from the ones who conducted themselves in error,
