But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: And mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.

Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: For God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: Thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.

Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, And mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: Cut them off in thy truth.

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, Until he see his desire upon his enemies.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold And see the reward of the wicked.

O remember not against us former iniquities: Let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: For we are brought very low.

They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, They mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: For they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; Make thy way straight before my face.

And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.

Come, behold the works of the LORD, What desolations he hath made in the earth.
